  • Mooles is designed to minimize data exposure: sensitive content is encrypted on-device before sync.
  • Servers store encrypted data only (a zero-knowledge model).
  • This website does not include third-party analytics or pixels; it only uses a technical cookie to remember language.

Data we may process

Depending on the features you use, we may process:

  • Account data: email, technical identifiers and settings.
  • User content: mole photos, notes, body location, history, analysis/annotations.
  • Technical data: minimized technical logs and information needed to operate the service (e.g., errors that do not contain sensitive content).

End-to-end encryption and zero-knowledge

For sensitive content (e.g., images and notes):

  • Your key is derived from your password with PBKDF2 (100,000 iterations).
  • Data is encrypted on-device with AES-256.
  • Sync and storage happen in encrypted form: without your password, data remains unreadable.

Purposes

We process data to:

  • Provide app features (storage, sync, reminders).
  • Improve stability and security (minimized technical diagnostics).
  • Handle support requests (when you contact us).

Legal basis (indicative)

  • Performance of a contract / providing the service you request.
  • Consent, where applicable.
  • Legitimate interest for security and abuse prevention (in minimized form).

Retention

We keep data as long as needed to provide the service and/or until deletion is requested, subject to legal obligations.

Sharing with third parties

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We may use infrastructure providers (hosting/database) to operate the service, with limited access and appropriate security measures.
